Princess Eugenie's Wedding Dress Was Specifically Designed to Highlight Her Surgery Scars

Britain's Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank kiss as they leave after their wedding at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, Windsor October 12, 2018.

The hats Eugenie, left, and Beatrice, right, wore to the royal wedding of their cousin Prince William in 2011 drew a lot of attention - not all of it flattering.

The low back of the dress isn't just a cute design feature.

Eugenie's dress was cut in a deep V in the front and the back, a feature requested by the bride that revealed a vertical scar from her surgery at age 12 to correct scoliosis. After receiving treatment at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Eugenie underwent a successful operation to straighten her spine.

Eugenie wore the sparkling Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, on loan from the queen.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank shared a kiss at the top of the steps after they were finally declared husband and wife.

Around 850 guests including The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex watched Eugenie and Jack marry.

"One particular passage in which Jay Gatsby is described reminded her immediately of Jack", Conner said.

We think we now love her even more.

"I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it's really special to stand up for that".

The bride's diamond and emerald earrings were a gift from the groom, and she finished the look with Charlotte Olympia heels.

"And I thought "what a silly hat" and I thought 'who's that?' and then you came over and shook my hand and I was all butterflies and nervous", Eugenie explains.

The ninth-in-line to the throne chose the British designer to create the gown she will walk down the aisle in.

Harry and Meghan's nation-uniting nuptials this wasn't. "You need to experience them in person and touch them to understand how much work, experimentation, patterns and building goes into every collection".

"She's global. She travels all the time", he said. Designed by Sarah Burton of fashion house Alexander McQueen, Middleton sought to combine tradition and modernity in her gown.
