Samsung Galaxy A9 Is Here

Samsung Galaxy A9 Is Here

Yesterday at its Galaxy Event, Samsung announced the Galaxy A9, a smartphone with four rear cameras designed for explorers, adventurers, and phone photographers.

On Thursday, Samsung has officially unveiled the A9, a photography-oriented mid-ranger with a total of four rear cameras.

Just three weeks after Samsung revealed the Galaxy A7 with its triple rear camera, it's already been outshone. But adding more cameras on phones seems a bit overkill right now, and reminds us of the days when handset vendors including Samsung would increase the number of megapixels every year as if more megapixels equaled a better camera experience. Finally, the fourth camera is a 5-megapixel depth camera with an f/2.2 aperture. And oh, the front facing camera has a resolution of 24MP with an f/2.0 aperture.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 is set for release in November and comes in three colours, caviar black, bubblegum pink and blue lemonade, and will cost £549.

It's unclear whether the quad camera array will eventually make its way to the more expensive Samsung models, but it's already managed to grant the A9 the level of attention that Samsung's flagship devices usually enjoy. Is this practical or just a marketing ploy?

The Galaxy A9 (2018) features a 6.3-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

Design The Galaxy A9 looks very similar to the Galaxy A7 (2018) but it is slightly bigger. In either case, you also get 128GB of storage, with the possibility to expand up to 512GB.

The Galaxy A9 comes with a 3,800-milliampere-hour battery, allowing an all-day performance. There is now no pricing information available for the device. It also features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner as well as Face Unlock technology. It runs on Android Oreo-based TouchWiz UI and is powered by Snapdragon 660 processor along with 6GB and 8GB of RAM.

The most interesting feature is undoubtedly the Samsung Galaxy A9's quadruple camera.

Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) smartphone was launched in October 2018. On the front, there will be a 24 MP Sony IMX 576 camera.
