New Diablo mobile game is primed for microtransactions

Some of the beauty of the Diablo franchise is that it's pretty easy to navigate, and that simple movement system translates very well to mobile with Diablo Immortal.

Blizzard's previous promises of "multiple Diablo projects" bore fruit during the keynote with the announcement of Diablo Immortal, a "full-fledged action-RPG you can play everywhere with everyone". Diablo Immortal is an MMO ARPG described as a game that can be played by anyone, anywhere they please. Blizzard has said many Diablo games were in the works but they would not be ready to announce all of them for BlizzCon. If you fall firmly into the Diablo III camp, today is the day to make your move.

Diablo was for much of its life a PC-only franchise. Diablo Immortal will recreate the franchise's traditional multiplayer point and click action gameplay with optimizations for mobile touchscreen controls. You'll be able to visit Westmarch and team up with friends or strangers in dynamic events and instanced dungeons. Diablo: Immortal was developed from the ground up as a stand-alone mobile experience.

Diablo Immortal will feature six playable character classes that most people will be familiar with: Barbarian, Wizard, Monk, Necromancer, Demon Hunter, and Crusader.

In addition, mobile gaming is massive in Asia and Activision Blizzard is likely trying to appeal to that region. Nintendo typically unviels amiibo figures through its official channels first, but exceptions may have been made for Blizzard.

Diablo III's power-building system is flexible enough for an afternoon or a full season. No release date has been announced though we expect the game to be available on both Android and iOS. "These are very exciting times-we now have multiple teams working on different Diablo projects and we can't wait to tell you all about them. when the time is right, the company said". Heck, we might even see some classes (and class abilities) that have never been in a Diablo game.
