Raptors' Kawhi Leonard sits vs. Lakers with foot soreness

"They're playing like they're the best team in the Eastern Conference so far", James said of the Raptors. Whatever Kawhi Leonard decides to do next summer, it will not be based on the outcome of one game in November.

There was no word on whether Leonard would potentially be available for Monday night's game in Utah against the Jazz.

Four Toronto players-Kyle Lowry, Serge Ibaka, Fred VanVleet and OG Anunoby-finished with 17 points each.

"It's a long season, so we're thinking about the long road".

Early on, it felt like the Raptors were just hanging on. Ibaka, who fouled out after just 14 minutes of court time, shot a ideal 8-for-8 from the field just one day after scoring 34 points on 15-for-16 shooting against the Lakers.

The Raptors clamped down on the Lakers defensively, limiting them 45.9% from the field and 25% from three-point land. Though they played better basketball as the game went on, they were never able to overcome that slow start.

Ankle woes all around: Both Toronto's Kawhi Leonard and Utah's Donovan Mitchell, who lead their teams with 26.1 and 22.4 points per game, respectively, were both sidelined with ankle injuries.

LeBron James was frank with the assessment of his Los Angeles Lakers team after taking a 121-107 beatdown at the hands of the East-leading Toronto Raptors on Sunday night. The Jazz outscored the Raptors 39-30 in the fourth quarter (which included nine points by rookie Grayson Allen) but the game was all but over by that point. He was reportedly available to return off the bench after getting it popped back in, but he did not get back on the court. "When you get into a comfort zone early like that, shots are going to fall".

Ibaka's 20 points were a career high for points in any quarter, eclipsing his previous mark of 15. Greg Monroe, who hadn't played more than 4:49 in a single game before Monday, showed his veteran presence as he stepped up in Ibaka's absence, looking like he hadn't missed a beat as he went 4-for-5 from the field with three rebounds in almost 13 minutes. "At the point of attack we allowed them to get where they wanted to go, however they wanted to go to start the game". Nurse won in 2011, two years after Snyder earned the honour.

Under normal circumstances, the Lakers could move on and focus on their next game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
