Opportunity knocks. Breaking Bad film in the works

Work on a feature-length "Breaking Bad" movie is underway, according to The Hollywood Reporter and the New Mexico Film Office.

Currently, it still hasn't been confirmed if the film will release in theatres or online streaming giants, however, it would mark Gilligan's first project with Sony TV in a three-year deal he signed with them in July. Nobody's sure if it's a prequel, a continuation of Aaron Paul's narrative or something completely parallel and only tangentially related.

According to the New Mexico Film Office, the movie "Greenbrier" will begin production in the Duke City mid-November through early February. AMC and Sony Pictures Television had no comment on the Breaking Bad project.

The title is supposed to be Greenbriar, though it's unknown whether it's a working title.

It's also not yet known if Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston or Aaron Paul will participate in any way.

Breaking Bad was a critical breakout and ran for a successful five season.

Vince Gilligan also serves as a co-creator and executive producer on that series. Cranston's character, Walter White, died at the end of that show.

Set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Cranston played Walter White, who is transformed from a meek high school science teacher into a ruthless player in the local methamphetamine drug trade.

That description is pretty vague, but if I, an embarrassingly huge Breaking Bad fan, were to take a wishful guess, it could be about Jesse Pinkman after the events which take place after the series finale. However, to follow up on that almost ideal series finale (I have some complaints about the final season which I will one day put into words, but this is neither the time or the place) by tidying up Jesse's ending or, worse, showing that his freedom was short lived would undermine the entire point of his ending.
