He deservedly received a call up to Gareth Southgate's England squad this afternoon but after what looks like a serious injury against Sporting CP tonight, it looks like he will be out for a long spell.

Meanwhile, fellow Arsenal star Ozil tweeted his support to the England global.

Welbeck helped the Gunners win the 2017 FA Cup and subsequent Community Shield. "We will know [more] about his injury tomorrow".

Arsenal have revealed they are unable to deliver a comprehensive update on Welbeck's injury until Monday.

"Significant right ankle injury", said Arsenal.

"Danny remains in hospital and will continue to be assessed". It would have been frustrating as an Arsenal fan, however, I'm sure they'll realise just how good the opposition was. His injury was hard also for the mentality of the players because they looked at the big injury, but when you are playing football in competitive matches it can happen. "First in your mind is to think for the player, but then the players were concentrated for the match, we forgot in the next minute with the injury but when we finish the first thing is to ask for him".

Arsenal despite the draw have already booked a place in the knockout stages of the competition but one big dent to that achievement is the injury sustained by Danny Welbeck. A good lad and a good friend. "He can come back strong". We wish him all the best in his recovery.
