Michelle Obama snuck out the White House to celebrate marriage equality

Kimmel asked Obama to share which celebrity she texted with most often, to which Obama initially demurred, noting that she doesn't "text and tell".

"I've never eaten a vegetable", Obama said to the camera, which she quickly clarified that "wasn't true".

"Coming out of The White House, you needed that time to take stock and say 'What just happened?' What was that?" She lets us in on her journey through marriage, motherhood, and transformation from a deeply reluctant public figure into a global icon. So, Kimmel took it upon himself to write up some things Obama could say out loud and gave them to her on cards.

Her husband and the former President Barack Obama shared a touching tribute to Michelle upon the memoir's release.

Obama said so many other un-First-Ladylike things, such as, "The whole 8 years we were in the White House, we used Laura Bush's Netflix password". The audience went wild for it, cheering her on. I held her tight, and my feeling was, we are moving forward. And while her calendar may no longer consist of state dinners and ceremonies, it appears that the former First Lady still has lots of friends in high places. Obama said. "He doesn't quite know what to do, so he starts following us, and I'm like (to Malia), 'Run fast, run faster!'"

She had bought new white sneakers to wear on the trip, and within a day, after all the pushing they did, her shoes turned reddish brown, stained with the cinnamon-hued dust of Nairobi.
