Browns interested in interviewing Rice for head coach position

Browns interested in interviewing Rice for head coach position

The Twittersphere had gone into meltdown earlier on Sunday when reports emerged that "lifelong Browns fan" Rice was being considered for the role, after Dorsey himself stated in the week he would consider a woman candidate for the role after the sacking of hapless former coach Hue Jackson.

Cleveland Browns General Manager John Dorsey wants to conduct a wide-ranging search for the team's next head coach and that includes the possibility of interviewing women for the position.

Condoleezza Rice also responded on Facebook.

The Cleveland Browns' incompetence is legendary in the NFL.

Rice, who is a Browns fan but has no football coaching experience, did not explicitly turn down the opportunity but said she was "not ready" to coach. Right now, the Browns are operating with an interim head coach - one of the team's defensive coordinators - until they can find a more suitable replacement.

"On a more serious note, I do hope that the National Football League will start to bring women into the coaching profession as position coaches and eventually coordinators and head coaches", she wrote. According to ESPN, the Buffalo Bills, the Oakland Raiders, and the San Francisco 49ers have all recently added women to their coaching staff.

Rice is now a professor of global business and economics at the Stanford Universtiy Graduate School of Business.

"She's an incredible person", one Browns source told ESPN.

Yeah, that went exactly as we expected.

But then he changed his tune when asked if age is a significant factor for the next head coach.

However, he said last week that he'd considering hiring a female head coach, so it may still be shattered sooner rather than later. "It could be a woman, too". I am serious. Who knows?

As far as we can tell, ESPN has not been hacked.
