Jose Mourinho criticises Manchester United's heart and desire after Palace stalemate

Jose Mourinho has told his Manchester United players to "stay at home" if they can not handle the pressure of playing at Old Trafford.

Saturday's uninspiring goalless draw at home to Crystal Palace was only the third in 13 of Manchester United's Premier League matches to feature fewer than three goals as the Red Devils recorded their fourth clean sheet in 18 outings across all competitions.

But the club's boss does not believe the clash at Old Trafford will be decisive.

The Special One didn't hold back in his scathing comments, believing that he should be getting more out of United's younger players.

He didn't name names - but the decision to replace Pogba with Alexis Sanchez after 68 minutes was telling.

"We're talking about Luke Shaw, Martial, Lingard, Rashford - young, big potential, but at the end of the day it results in the word I can not say [cojones], but you use it a lot here. character, personality, they lack a little".

"What he said the other day, that was more a generational thing, I don't think it was really aimed as much at us as individuals".

"We didn't have that intensity that in my opinion is basically related to your brain, with your heart".

But the Portuguese will need to find an alternative for the 24-year-old as he is set to miss Tuesday's Champions League game at home to Young Boys and could be unavailable for a number of weeks. Phil Jones or Eric Bailly will take his place against Young Boys. The team that I will play tomorrow, I want to put out a team where they can cope well with that happiness with a decisive game.

"I think we need to keep working hard as a team and creating those chances and ultimately finishing them and making sure the games that we are dominate we win".

"You need thick skin to, of course, play under the manager, but 100 per cent this club. When they are open, they change".

"What I want is a team to start strong, not waiting", Mourinho added. I think it is only a matter of time until they go in.

"We played a game like it was one more game and I don't think it was one more game".

"He could quite easily have used the injury as an excuse, and Wilf and Jordan, who are very quick, could have gone past him and maybe even won the game".
