Marvel And Netflix Have Cancelled Daredevil

The statement continued to thank showrunner Erik Oleson, the writers, crew, and cast, singling out show lead Charlie Cox and thanking fans for supporting the show.

"Marvel's Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix", the streaming service said in a statement to Deadline.

The decision not to renew Daredevil comes after similar decisions for third seasons of Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The fact that their partner in these superhero shows is launching a competing service just makes these cancellations even more of a no-brainer. Both have new seasons on the horizon: The Punisher will return sometime in early 2019, while Jessica Jones is now in production. As well as the third season of Daredevil was received, most of us thought that Daredevil was safe from being cancelled, well we were wrong. Marvel still owns the rights to these characters, and veteran television journalist Alan Sepinwall explains that they could technically wipe the slate clean, start over, and recast these shows if they want to. Feel free to mourn its passing below, and stay tuned for further updates on the fates of Netflix's other Marvel shows as they become available. Disney has teased series that feature Marvel characters such as Loki and Scarlet Witch for the service, titled Disney +. Everything we've seen implies Disney wants new shows, new projects, new buzz.

The conspiracy theory goes that in order to bring all their properties under one streaming roof, Marvel are simply letting their contracts with Netflix expire and not pushing for renewal.

A spokesperson for Netflix has said "Marvel's "Daredevil" will not return for a fourth season on Netflix".

Are you disappointed in the cancellation of Daredevil?

Season 2 of Netflix's Luke Cage premiered on Friday and much like the first season, the show is backed by an excellent soundtrack which just so happens to include brand new music from the legendary Rakim. If you aren't in the mood for a tv show we highly recommend the film Outlaw King, starring Chris Pine.
