Clemson Is Cotton Bowl Bound

Six weeks of endless chatter, hypotheticals and scenarios officially ended Sunday afternoon with the announcement of the four-team College Football Playoff. Oklahoma was the team that's fate rested on the outcome of the Big 12 Championship, and whether it would loss twice in one year in Red River or make it back to the Playoff for the second consecutive season.

No. 1 Alabama (13-0) will meet No. 4 Oklahoma (12-1) in the other semifinal in the Orange Bowl in Miami Gardens, Florida.

After starting the SEC season with four straight losses, Missouri finished strong and is ranked for the first time since September 20, 2015. That included five ACC teams, four of them that Clemson also beat this season.

Notre Dame last played in the Cotton Bowl on New Year's Day 1994, beating Texas A&M when the game was still in its namesake stadium about 20 miles away at the site of the State Fair of Texas. "I've never been to the Cotton Bowl, so we're really looking forward to it".

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney raises the trophy after Clemson won the Atlantic Coast Conference championship NCAA college football game against Pittsburgh in Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday. The Bulldogs hung with the undefeated Crimson Tide until the 4th quarter.

Here's a look at the five things we learned from the 12-point loss for the Texas Longhorns against the Oklahoma Sooners in the Big 12 Championship Game on December 1.

The two winners will play at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., (San Francisco Bay Area) on January 7, 2019 for the national title.

In selecting the Sooners over the Bulldogs, the committee, and the playoff itself, avoided alienating at least one of its patrons.

The Fighting Irish have played at AT&T Stadium once, beating Arizona State 37-34 in October 2013.
