CNN's New York Offices Temporarily Evacuated After Bomb Threat

A building in New York City that includes CNN was evacuated because of a phoned-in bomb threat Thursday night that turned out to be unsubstantiated, according to police and a reporter at the network.

This isn't the first time the building has been the target of bomb threat phone calls.

"We have closed the perimeter at Columbus Circle and cleared the building", New York Police Detective Hubert Reyes said.

As the 11 p.m. hour began, the network was airing the "Anderson Cooper" episode taped earlier Thursday evening, returning to live programming, about the bomb threat, shortly after 11:15 p.m.

"We are now searching the entire building".

While none of the devices had actually detonated, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said that they were not dummies.

This was the third time that CNN had faced an evacuation over bomb threats.

Police searched thoroughly the evacuated building and found nothing to substantiate the threat and later gave the all clear. It appears that tweet was made at around 10:08 p.m., which would make it after police said they received the 911 call.

'FAKE NEWS - THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, ' Trump tweeted just after 10pm.

"Update to follow", the NYPD tweeted.

The one sent to the CNN was addressed to former Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan, who is a contributor to MSNBC and NBC News but has no relation to CNN.
