Man United coach anticipates upcoming back-to-back wins

Manchester United return to Old Trafford for the first time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's management against Huddersfield on Boxing Day with a new-found swagger after scoring five goals in the Premier League for the first time in five years.

The 1999 treble victor was in charge of his first match in the Red Devils' 5-1 spanking of his former side Cardiff City.

That followed two assists in a 5-1 win at Cardiff in Solskjaer's first game.

There was a time when full-backs pushed high and wide at Old Trafford was the norm but they are two of the positions to have suffered most in the post-Ferguson landscape.

After the game, Huddersfield manager David Wagner was asked to sum up the difference between Mourinho's United and the team managed by his successor. "That comes when you sign for Man United", he said.

"We want to look at this game".

When United, only ahead through Nemanja Matic's goal at the time, were under pressure early in the second half, Fred and Diogo Dalot were quickly removed from the proceedings, replaced by the more experienced Ander Herrera and Ashley Young.

But with Romelu Lukaku away on "compassionate leave" it is down to Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Paul Pogba to deliver the goals and attacking impetus for Solskjaer. "But when you get the 2-0 you settle down, you can see the boys confidence growing". We were unfortunately unable to use them. "It comes with a responsibility but my job is to get the players enjoying themselves".

"We know we can't make any mistakes".

The feel-good factor around Old Trafford was clear from the start, with the caretaker boss given a huge ovation as he emerged from the tunnel.

"I was sat next to Rene Meulensteen in a reserve-team game once as a coach, second half, and I was there with Cardiff".

As it stands seven players, including Alexis Sanchez and Pereira, are not certain of their place in the team but we shall be listing the top three players who are surely going to leave the team. There is a lot of talent in our squad and this is a big opportunity for these players to demonstrate that and show everybody why they play for this great club.
