SPOTTED: Pelosi Relaxes During Gov't Shutdown at Expensive Hawaii Resort

Trump tweeted: "We will be forced to close the Southern Border entirely if the Obstructionist Democrats do not give us the money to finish the Wall & also change the ridiculous immigration laws that our Country is saddled with".

The president did leave the White House on Friday night to join the three men at the center of the negotiations, Vice President Mike Pence, Trump's senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner and acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, for dinner at Pence's residence at the Naval Observatory. "They can't. If we had a Wall, they wouldn't even try!" the president tweeted.

Acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney announced on Fox News on Friday that President Trump has chose to cancel his plans to travel to his Mar-a-Lago resort for New Year's in order to stay in our nation's capital during the shutdown. "In 2011, it was reported by the Hawaii Reporter that Pelosi had in previous years stayed in a $10,000-a-night suite at the Four Seasons Resort in Kona for her holiday vacation", the report said.

NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement, effective since New Year's Day in 1994, was created to increase trade among the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

'The last time there has been any outreach to Pelosi directly from the White House was Tuesday, December 11 when President Trump phoned her after the White House meeting that morning'.

Pelosi's vacation comes as she continues to blame Trump for the government shutdown. While the U.S. Department of Homeland Security says the father told them he had not been able to give his daughter food or water for "days", the family has called for an "objective and thorough investigation" into the incident.

He said Pelosi will soon face a vote on becoming House Speaker and she does not want to be seen as caving to Trump's demands.

The standoff in Washington over Trump's demand for money to help fund the border wall, estimated to cost about US$23 billion in total, was widely expected to drag well into January.

'Republicans control the House, the Senate and the White House.

"With the House Majority, Democrats will act swiftly to end the Trump Shutdown, and will fight for a strategic, robust national security policy, including strong and smart border security, and strong support for our servicemembers and veterans".

"If you close the border you are going to reinvite huge swings in the stock market, you are going to jeopardize the economic progress we've made, and you're frankly going to do a lot of damage to your own prospects for 2020 by inviting a recession", he said.

In Mexico, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador sidestepped Trump's threat, telling journalists: "We don't want to be imprudent and we don't think we should get into this".

'Democrats are united against the President's immoral, ineffective and expensive wall - the wall that he specifically promised that Mexico would pay for, ' said spokesman Drew Hammill. "We must be diligent in protecting trade relations with our neighbors", Gonzalez said in the statement.

Democrats are likely to move a bill to fund the government late next week, while Republicans will take up Trump's argument that Democrats are weak on border security and make incoming Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., the issue.

Mulvaney also praised 'that steel slat fence that he sent the picture out, ' in reference to the border barrier Trump tweeted out with spiky points on top, saying experts consider it the 'ideal border barrier'.
