Dolphins fire coach Adam Gase, ex-Bears assistant, after 3 seasons

Gase was sacked from Miami after a 23-26 record overall, which included a playoff loss in his first season in 2016.

He is one of at least four coaches who have reportedly been requested for an interview or will be interviewed for the Cardinals' job, which opened Monday following the fire of first-year head coach Steve Wilks.

Landry clearly holds disdain for Gase, despite being one of the NFL's most prolific pass-catchers while playing for the MI native.

If the Miami Dolphins don't want to stick with offensive mind for their head guy, they could turn to Dallas Cowboy defensive coordinator Kris Richard.

Also, don't be surprised if the Dolphins also cut ties with both safeties Reshad Jones and/or T.J. McDonald. The team said it will immediately conduct a search for a new coach who will report to Grier.

Also worth noting: Rex's old boss Mike Tannenbaum is the current football czar in Miami and might be interested in a reunion with his old pal.

The next coach will be the Dolphins' 10th since 2004, including three interim coaches. The team started this season 3-0, but stumbled to a 7-9 finish, likely sealing Gase's fate. He skidded over the last two years, and will conclude his tenure in Miami with a 23-24 record. Starter Ryan Tannehill missed the end of the playoff campaign, all of the 2017 season, and five games in 2018 due to injuries.

They were outgained by 1,619 yards, worst in franchise history, and outscored by 114 points.

The Hurricanes stuff popped up on Sunday afternoon in the wake of Mark Richt abruptly announcing his retirement from Miami after just three years and just a single season removed from an ACC Championship Game appearance.

In addition, he lost support in the locker room over the second half of the season. Cleveland Browns receiver Jarvis Landry tweeted emojis laughing so hard they cried.
