National Hockey League announces locations for 2019-20 outdoor games and 2020 All-Star weekend

The good news is that sources are reporting the 2020 Winter Classic will take place in Dallas, which will provide the event with a much-needed breath of fresh air.

This would mark the Dallas Stars' first Winter Classic, and the fourth to be held in a college football stadium following this year's game between the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks at Notre Dame Stadium.

Since 2008, the National Hockey League has hosted it's Winter Classic on New Year's Day in an attempt to seize the day.

Sportsnet is reporting that the league will name Dallas as the host city for next year's USA -based Winter Classic while Regina is expected to host Canada's Heritage Classic at the home of the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The report didn't indicate which teams would be involved in the Heritage Classic but it's believed that the Winnipeg Jets will face either the Calgary Flames or Edmonton Oilers.

The Stars will host the NHL Winter Classic, Sportsnet Canada reported on Monday. That matchup will take place at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan, on October 26, 2019. The 1988 and 1970 games were held at the St. Louis Arena.

The Dallas Stars will host the NHL's annual outdoor game on New Year's Day 2020, according to Canadian sports media. The 2020 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend will include the 2020 NHL All-Star Skills™ and the 2020 Honda NHL All-Star Game.

"It is a privilege to have the opportunity to host an outdoor game at the historic Air Force Academy", Colorado Avalanche General Manager Joe Sakic said in the press release. Colorado's opponent for the 2020 NHL Stadium Series™ will be announced at a future date.
