Wild Card Round of National Football League playoffs get underway this upcoming weekend

The Chargers will now advance to face the New England Patriots next week in Foxborough.

The Chargers have a 12-4 record.

The Chargers earned the franchise's first playoff berth since 2013 and its 12 regular season wins are the most since the team notched 13 during the 2009 season.

You will rarely find a No. 5 seed so talented as to be a legit Super Bowl threat. This is their first playoff appearance since the 2013 season when they were defeated in the Divisional Round. Baltimore has won its' three. In the red zone, Mornhinweg absolutely refused to throw the ball until the final three minutes of the game. But he's got 10-plus years of experience on the young Ravens QB. New England won in San Diego, 24-21, on January 14, 2007, in the divisional round.

"We'll be there next Sunday", Rivers said with confidence on CBS after his team's latest road win. Their last regular season loss came against the Ravens. Baltimore is 2-0 in home playoff games under head coach John Harbaugh.

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers was efficient and effective Sunday, completing 22 of 32 passes for 160 yards.

Melvin Gordon leads the Chargers backs with 175 carries for 885 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Out of the four games this weekend, this one intrigues me the most.

Henry returned to practice on December 17, opening a three-week window to be activated.

Rookie interior defensive lineman Justin Jones had to replace veteran Brandon Mebane in the middle of the Chargers' defensive line, and the rookie certainly rose to the occasion. Running back Austin Ekeler is listed as Questionable.

The switch to Lamar Jackson after the bye led Baltimore to completely flip their scheme.

Lamar Jackson who has taken over for Joe Flacco is receiving attention for the success, but a big reason is the Ravens' defense, which has given the least amount of yards this season.

The 2018 first-round draft pick has gone 99 of 170 for 1,201 yards. This frightful game also included three self-destructing turnovers. After that game, the Chargers tumbled back down everyone's power rankings and the Ravens became the popular dark horse candidate.
