Josh McDaniels confirms he will be back with Patriots next season

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels won't pursue any of the available head coaching jobs remaining in the current cycle. McDaniels remains the most logical candidate to be Bill Belichick's successor, whenever the Hoodie decides to hang it up. He only received two interview requests this offseason from the Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals. He has previous head coaching experience, a long history of coordinating productive and creative offenses, over a decade of overseeing future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady and huge respect from many in New England, including Bill Belichick.

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is not and was not a candidate for the Browns' head coaching position. On Monday, Matt LaFleur accepted an offer to become the Packers next coach.

McDaniels said he had "no idea" if his leaving the Indianapolis Colts at the altar last year carried over this year, possibly leading to him only having one formal interview.

"I will be here moving forward". It's been very educational for me every time I've gone through it. From this weekend's upcoming matchups to the coaching carousel that keeps spinning (we've already got new hires in Green Bay and likely Tampa), you had a ton of questions to ask.

"No sir, I have had no contact with them".

After spurning the Colts at the last minute last offseason, McDaniels has said that he dreams of being an National Football League head coach again. "I am grateful for the opportunity that I had, but obviously more importantly thankful for the opportunity that I have here". With that door closing, McDaniels confirmed Tuesday morning that he would be back in New England next season. I think it's safe to say that he majorly upgraded from Texas Tech by going to the Cardinals.
