Lionel Messi Becomes First Player to Score 400 La Liga Goals

It has been a promising campaign from the Blaugrana so far, who now sit on top of the La Liga table with an impressive 5 points ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid.

Luis Suarez grabbed the lead for Barça in the 19th minute with a curling finish following a through ball from Philippe Coutinho, 1-0. Messi doubled Barcelona's advantage with a well-taken finish, essentially putting his team out of sight. It has led to reports that he could be on his way out of Barca in the summer.

Since moving to France, though, he has been regularly linked with a return to Spain, previously with Real Madrid but more recently with Barcelona.

The bookies have recieved a flurry of bets on this market, with 85 per cent of all punters backing Coutinho to end up at Old Trafford. He has been warned he must knuckle down and fight for his place by boss Ernesto Valverde.

The Brazilian was always a talented player but his current situation wasn't expected to happen though it's believed to be the reason for the potential transfer. The Uruguayan now has five goals in his last five games in all competitions, bagging a brace here.

But Suarez told beIN after the game he's OK: "I'm fine".

"He was the one who left", Cardoner said in October. Valverde not only has directly replaced the Brazilian in the starting lineup with 21-year-old Dembele, but Valverde has added Arturo Vidal to the midfield duo of Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic, leaving absolutely no room for Coutinho in the lineup.

Eibar - Riesgo 7, Pena 5, Bigas 5, Arbilla 6, Cote 5, Escalante 6, Diop 6, Orellana 6, Cucurella 7, Jordan 5, Sergi 7.

Soon after, it was 3-0 as Eibar this time fell asleep. Suarez made no mistake in finding the far corner of the net.

"He should be proud", said Suarez, who scored Barcelona's other two goals. That's Barcelona's second goal of the night, and it's Messi's 400th La Liga goal of his career.

A well-proven talent in European football, there is no doubt Coutinho will definitely bounce back to his best and his goal against Levante in the Copa Del Rey during the midweek will do a lot in boosting his confidence as we approach the decisive stages of the campaign. It's not often that the Barcelona number 10 misses a chance like that.
